Once I lived above a man who had a magic wonder shop. Next door lived a girl full of stories. She was fond of red umbrellas and typewriters. Birds would come and leave their footprints in the snow on the window sill, and at night goofy danced above my head. I loved living in that place.
It is dark. A man sings. All of the beautiful things float towards us - a garden is made, stars fill the sky, birds fly free.
Some buildings are built to fly, Istiklal beats it’s drum, there once lived in Beyolglu a magic wonder shop, ladders, small wonders, and epic sea journeys…….mapping what I see in Istanbul. Map drawn for Kronotrop, Cihangir.
Drawing sunny days in Spain, the day winter started and a ferry ride to Sicily. Day 102 of a 527 day travel journal.
This screen print is inspired by all those days riding in the furnace that the sun can be….when we felt like we were cooking from the inside…..particularly on those flat long plains in Uzbekistan, and the low lying areas of Tajikistan, next to the Afghan border. I’m usually one for the sun…I love it……but sometimes she can be a bit domineering! I sun exposed this screen print in our back yard…kind of fitting really.
